Speedo® is the world’s leading swimwear brand that is passionate about swimming and loves inspiring people to swim. The brand was started in 1914 in Australia by a young Scot called Alexander MacRae. It was originally an underwear manufacture business, which quickly embraced the growing beach culture and expanded to include swimwear. Nowadays, the company is a real global player with products available in 177 countries, and its international headquarters located in Nottingham, UK. It is also a part of the Pentland Group - a privately owned, third-generation family business, that owns and/or invests in brands like JD Sports, Kickers, Reebok, Canterbury and more. Did you know, that Speedo is the first company to start producing swimwear made of nylon or elastane which still remains the most popular swimwear fabric? What's more, the revolutionary FASTSKIN Racing System that is cherished so much by the word-class swimmers is also a creation of Speedo. You'll see many swimmers wearing Speedo's swimwear at the Olympic games and regularly breaking records. Like many other brands, Speedo® is working towards sustainability. The company has a dedicated team that is continually trying to improve many processes, however so far the information shared by the brand is very limited and vague. For example, it states that one one of its factories the change of light bulbs to LED resulted in a 30% cut in electricity consumption. And on another factory, it managed to reduce water consumption by 66%. This information sounds good, but there is no evidence on it. Plus things like carbon emissions, waste management and many more remain unclear. In 2019 Speedo announced using innovative fabric created from ECONYL® and REPET yarns. The revolution of these fibres lies in turning waste from fishing nets, manufacturing by-products and plastic bottles into first-grade nylon fabric. The brand is also reviewing its packaging options and tries to introduce more recycled plastic to manufacturing.
Speedo is a top brand for all kinds of swimwear - from advanced swimsuits to shorts and bikinis. The brand is covering men, women and kids with a range of high-quality swimwear and accessories that may be needed in and around the water. All products are made of quality materials that aim to last and perform whether that's a beach day or a triathlon competition. Shop Speedo for swimwear, goggles, caps, bags, fins, towels and many more. If you're new to the brand, check out its bestsellers to get an idea of its top-valued products. As in most online shops, at Speedo, you can sort items by collection. Additionally, the brand's website allows ordering products by activity that is interesting for you. For instance, you can choose to view only racing or training products. It's hard to identify which Speedo's products are the most eco-friendly. But we'll keep an eye on the company's updates to provide you with the latest information.
