Lego is the manufacturer of everyone's favored plastic blocks that interlock creating buildings, gears and mini-figures. The first, early version of the blocks was created in 1949 in Billund, Denmark. Since then the company has produced over 600 billion Lego pieces. Lego's mission is to inspire and foster the creativity of the builders of tomorrow. Through product licensing with Disney, Minecraft, Harry Poter or Marvel, it is reaching a very broad spectrum of audiences. Even though children have always been the main focus of the company there is a growing community of adults who collect Lego sets as a hobby. Some of the rare sets, like 5000+ pieces Millennium Falcon, cost tenfold the price when they aren't any more available in the regular retail. In 2018 Lego started researching possibilities to create plastic pieces more sustainably. The company introduced a new material -polyethylene made from sugar cane. For now, only 2% of elements are produced from this plant-based plastic, but Lego promises to use only sustainable materials by 2030. Also, the packaging of the sets should get more eco-friendly in the coming years. To be more environmentally conscious with your Lego bricks, make sure you donate them to kids in need to play when you're no longer interested in building yourself.
In the official Lego online store, you can buy all currently available Lego sets by theme, age of the builder or price range. Most beloved Lego series include Ninjago, Batman, BrickHeadz, Duplo, Star Wars, City and Frozen. Also, adults can find inspiring Lego products, for example, Lego Architecture, Technic or Serious Play. The last set is beloved by start-ups and consulting companies for design thinking workshops. Who would have thought that business people play Lego, right? The online shop offers also merchandising, fashion and home decor items. If you lost a piece of your set, you can order a single block that you need. In the "Pick a brick" section you can also create your own set.
